Taylor’s BBQ a force in Salisbury

There are a couple things that need to be checked off before eating at Taylor’s BBQ.

First, don’t wear a white or light-colored shirt.

Second, come happy and come hungry.

Third, sit back, relax and enjoy the hospitality.

At Taylor’s BBQ, good food is their middle name. From barbecue chicken to chicken salad, from cornbread to pulled pork, from brisket to pie, Taylor’s is the place to immerse any palate in an array of flavors.

“The cool thing about us is we’re tucked away and if you don’t know about us, once you’ve tried us, you’ll be hooked for life,” co-owner Kathy Calabrese said. “People have memories attached to our food and that’s really cool.”

Aside from feeding the 200 to 300 customers that walk through their doors each day, Taylor’s caters many weddings, office get-togethers and holiday gatherings. It’s something that Kathy, her husband, her two sons and daughter-in-law are honored to be a part of.

Taylor’s BBQ is unique because they make all their food from scratch and cook their meats over an open flame as opposed to some of their counterparts that buy their foods premade.

Now in their second year, Taylor’s has already become a place that has made an impression on its customers.

“People say we should be on The Food Network and have told us they should come here,” Kathy said, laughing. “We know everyone by name as best as we can and greet them like they’re family.”

On top of serving great food to happy customers, Taylor’s now serves alcoholic beverages, an addition that compliments the tastes of BBQ and home cooking.

Kathy and her family have made such an impression on the community that their walls are adorned with awards — some of which haven’t even been hung yet.

“Serving the community and the people is absolutely the best part,” Kathy said. “(Taylor’s BBQ) has a fantastic foundation with a great following and people know it and will love it.”
