Ocean City Police investigate construction theft

The Ocean City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is asking for help in an investigation of the theft a large piece of construction equipment.

Officers responded to 11427 Coastal Highway, the parking lot of the Gold Coast Mall, on Jan. 5 in relation to a report of malicious destruction of property, according to a press release.

They met with an employee of an asphalt maintenance company, who told police the front door to a Bobcat brand skid-steer loader and a breaker attachment were stolen from the job site the night before.

The man believed the theft occurred sometime between 7 p.m. Jan. 4 and 6:30 a.m. Jan. 5, according to the release. The breaker is a Stanley brand Model #MB05 that had a sticker attached that read “Image Asphalt Maintenance Inc.” with the company logo.

The breaker weighs about 550 pounds and has the serial number #060112006.
