Man charged in theft during White Marlin Open

Maryland Natural Resources Police officers received a report of theft that occurred at the Ocean City Fishing Center during the White Marlin Open tournament, according to the NRP blotter.

A flyer, which included a photo of the suspect's vehicle, was released and distributed publicly, leading to officers' identification of the owner of the vehicle, Dennis J. Tronosky, Sr.

A search warrant was secured for Tronosky's residence and vehicle after more investigating and charges were placed against him for theft from vessels docked at the fishing center. An estimated total value of stolen fishing equipment was $5,600.

Tronosky, 38, of Berlin, was charged with two counts of theft between $1,000-$10,000 Aug. 22. Each count carries a penalty of $10,000 and/or 10 years. He was also charged as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. This carries a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison.
