Changes to the Boardwalk regulations that have caused anger and frustrations for months passed through Ocean City Council Monday night.

Regulations came into effect this past summer that required anyone wanting to perform on the Boardwalk, up to Ninth Street, to sign up for a designated spot, twice a week, the week before the intended performance.

These rules were met with backlash and even protests from the performers community.

Performers eventually filed a lawsuit.

The resort town created a task force to look at the regulations, and revise them if they saw fit. Monday night’s meeting passed those changes.

Changes that went through include using a lottery system once a week for performers to choose their spaces. There will also be restrictions for allowing only performers whose acts require a 10-by-10 foot space to use those big spaces.

Performers will now also be allowed to share spaces between two people.
