A 21-year-old North Carolina woman was arrested Monday after police say she led several Delaware and Maryland agencies on a high-speed chase across state lines after she robbed a bank in Laurel earlier this morning.

The Laurel Police Department received reports of a woman, identified as Sarah Crosby of Siler City, robbing the Bank of Delmarva on Market Street at about 10:30 a.m., according to Laurel Police Chief Jamie Wilson.

Police reported the woman approached a teller with a note that indicated she was armed and demanded money.

After the robbery, Wilson said the woman led police on a high-speed chase from Delaware to Maryland, with several police departments becoming involved before the chase ended in Salisbury.

Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis said the woman was driving a white Chevrolet Lumina sedan heading down Route 13 with her 4-year-old son also in the car.

Lewis added that Crosby struck three vehicles during the chase, including a Delmar Police Department vehicle.

After police laid down spike strips and successfully took out the car's tires as the chase continued on the Salisbury bypass, Lewis said the woman continued to drive while her vehicle was riding on rims, requiring police to conduct a controlled stop on the bypass just north of Johnson Road.

Crosby has been taken into custody by the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, and the agency is currently trying to obtain a warrant to search her vehicle, as Lewis said they found money in the car linking her to the robbery and have reason to believe she may have been armed during the bank robbery.

Lewis said the child was unharmed is currently in protective custody. Crosby is currently being held by the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office awaiting to be transported to Delaware to face robbery charges.

Crosby could face charges out of both states related to the robbery and chase, as well as federal charges for robbing a bank.
