One of the men charged in the shootings of the homes of three law enforcement officers in Wicomico County was found not competent to stand trial, court records show.

Between the three Wicomico County cases dating back to incidents in 2012, David M. Watson II, 26, of Laurel had faced 60 charges.

Watson was ordered to be committed to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in a Jan. 5 order, court records show. He was also found “to be a danger to self or the person or property of another,” the court order states.

He was found not competent to stand trial in December. A review hearing has been set for June 12 in Wicomico County Circuit Court, court records show.

Watson’s co-defendant, Orrin Dale Joudrey, now 22, pleaded guilty in April 2014 to one charge in each of the December 2012 incidents: two counts of first-degree assault and a count of malicious destruction of property. His sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Jan. 23 in Wicomico County Circuit Court.

In November 2013, Watson was sentenced to 106 years in Delaware in connection with the shooting at the Laurel-area home of another law enforcement officer. Joudrey also pleaded guilty to his role in that case and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

E. Scott Collins, a panel attorney for the Public Defender’s Office representing Watson, said he believes Watson will go back to Delaware to serve his sentence, although he isn’t sure how or when this will happen.
