A 21-year-old man was convicted Tuesday in connection with the Memorial Day killing of a man in Ocean City.

Darren M. Beattie, of Sparrows Point, Maryland, was convicted on Nov. 15 of manslaughter, second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. He was acquitted of common-law affray.

The Baltimore County man got into a fight with 31-year-old Ryan Shupert of Lutherville, Maryland,  at 136th Street and Coastal Highway on May 29, according to previous reports. Ocean City emergency workers were able to get Shupert to Peninsula Regional Medical Center; however, he died from his injuries two days later.
